DJ SHORT CHANGEDJ Short Change has grown his love of Bob Marley into a career spinning a variety of Reggae records, from the hits to the obscure. Reggae Revelation began in 1999 on Portland’s KPSU 1450AM and moved to Nice Up Radio in 2018. His early work caught the attention of DJ Professor Stone, founder of the Good Vibes Crew. Teaming up, the two held weekly dances at the Red Sea, Portland’s premier Reggae club during the late 1990s and early 2000s. This led to more collaboration with other prominent area DJs, as Short Change and DJ Xacto founded XactChange HiFi and hosted Reggae on Broadway, a weekly event at the 715 Inn, a staple of old Portland. From there XactChange HiFi moved to McMenamins Ringlers and held a weekly dance Just Cool Mon-days for the next two years. Later, Short Change would bring his own unique energy to another Portland institution, O’Malley’s, just as the bar’s neighborhood was developing its nightlife. For three years, he led Reggae Revelation In the Mix among the pool tables and slung pizza slices, sometimes spinning solo and other times hosting local DJs. In addition to radio and club nights Short Change has also opened for touring acts when in Portland including The Wailers, UB40, Junior Reid, Don Carlos, Kabaka Pyramid and more. You can currently check Short Change live every Tuesday night from 9PM-11PM PST for Reggae Revelation on Nice Up Radio.
